15 Top Dramione Fanfics You Should Be Reading Right Now

✨Heads up! Some links in this post are Amazon affiliate links. That means if you click and buy, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for helping me keep this blog running and my TBR endless! 📚

If you’re a Dramione reader, you already know the chokehold this ship has on the entire fandom. If you’re new here, welcome, you’re in for emotional destruction and exquisite prose.

A Quick Note About AO3

All of these fics are hosted on Archive of Our Own (AO3) — the internet’s biggest fanfiction library and a total treasure trove for readers who love exploring new takes on their favorite characters. It’s completely free to use, but you’ll likely need an AO3 account to access some of the works listed below (especially the spicy or mature-rated ones). Creating one only takes a minute, and it’s worth it. AO3 is where the best Dramione magic happens.

15 Dramione Fics to Read TODAY

Below are fifteen Dramione fics that have completely ruined my ability to read anything else for at least three business days after finishing. Some are legendary, some underrated, all unforgettable. Bookmark this post, because you’re going to need a recovery period.

1. The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy by speechwriter

Summary:
The night that Harry and Dumbledore return from the cave, the Death Eaters are delayed from reaching the top of the Astronomy Tower for one more minute. Draco Malfoy lowers his wand.

A Deathly Hallows rewrite in which Draco accepts Dumbledore’s offer to fake his death and go into hiding with the Order of the Phoenix.

This fic is my top recommendation for first-time dramione readers. Experience the deathly hallows in a whole new way! Fair warning, your head-cannon may just be altered forever.

2. Remain Nameless by HeyJude19

Summary:
How did it feel? It felt like he was barely holding it together. She, of all people, should shun him. Or yell at him. Curse him. Spit at him. Take out her wand and blast him off the face of the earth. It was crushing guilt and relief and confusion all at once when he looked at Hermione Granger.
The monotony of Draco’s daily routine had become both a lifeline and a noose. But this new habit of grabbing coffee with Hermione Granger is quickly becoming a reason to get out of bed and is unfortunately forcing him to re-evaluate his inconsequential existence.
Hermione is living her life in fragments, separate pieces scattered about, and she can’t find a way to step back and let the full picture form. Why are morning meetings with Draco Malfoy the only thing that make sense anymore?

3. Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love by isthisselfcare

Summary:
Hermione straddles the Muggle and Magical worlds as a medical researcher and Healer about to make a big discovery. Draco is an Auror assigned to protect her from forces unknown – to both of their displeasure.

Features hyper-competent, fiery Hermione and lazy, yet dangerous, Draco. Slow burn.

4. Teach Me How to Forget by scullymurphy

Summary:
Hermione Granger is 27 years old when her life falls apart. Cheated-on, flatless, fed up with her job, she decides to change one thing she can–take a class and try for some career advancement. But change is never easy, especially when an old enemy is the catalyst.

And the class instructor.

5. Wait and Hope by mightbewriting

Summary:
“Harry,” Hermione began, voice very controlled, but she could feel the blade of panic slicing at her vocal cords. “Why was Draco Malfoy just screaming bloody murder about his,” and the word almost strangled her as she said it, “wife?”

Harry’s green eyes blew wide. Healer Lucas pinched the bridge of her nose, clearly displeased with the recent series of events.

“He was referring to you, my dear,” she said. “That was the other question you got wrong. Your name is Hermione Jean Granger-Malfoy.”

Hermione had to be sedated again.

[In which Hermione loses the last six year’s worth of her memories, including the entirety of her relationship and marriage to Draco.]

6. Beginning and End by mightbewriting

Summary:
Years. Broken into months into weeks into days—into hours, minutes, seconds—into moments. Simple at one end, complex at the other. In Draco’s experience, moments, even when simple, had a habit of becoming irretrievable. Moments grew, stretched, multiplied into ages and eras that defined whole stretches of measurable time. Draco regretted several moments in his life, some within his control, some without: all of them irretrievable in nature. At a certain point, wedged between ‘what-ifs’ of his own devising, he’d stopped trying to keep track of those regrettable moments: now and then, pushing and pulling, coming and going, beginning and end. Moments were only moments for just as long. After that, he had no control.

[In which Draco is forced to work with Hermione, falls in love, makes many mistakes, and eventually becomes his own man. A Draco POV prequel to Wait and Hope.]

7. Measure of a Man by inadaze22

Summary:
To truly know someone is to differentiate between who they once were, who they are now, and who they’re capable of being. Hermione realises the duality of one man as she rectifies what she knows of the past and begins to understand the pieces of who Draco Malfoy is now: a father, a son, and a man..

8. Forget Me Yesterday, Remember Me Tomorrow by Simply_Lovely_Reader

Summary:
Seven years post war, Hermione and Draco are engaged and very much in love. Until one day Draco wakes up and has no memory of anything since being acquitted at his trial in 1998 right after the war ended.

9. Love and Other Historical Accidents by pacificrimbaud

Summary:
Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy never intended to blow up their life’s work, but that’s rather what they’ve gone and done. Now they’re trapped 200 years in the past, with a broken Time Turner, a missing snuff box, a handful of overly-eligible daughters, and a House-elf in a cable knit cardigan. It will require the combined power of their keen intellects to get them home, if they’d stop arguing long enough to use them. As it turns out, history is just one damned accident after another.

For fans of Harry Potter, Jane Austen, and Connie Willis, a historical romantic comedy all about time, and getting the hell out of it.

10. The Fixer Upper Club by charlipetidei

Summary:
Since the war, Hogwarts castle has been left in a state of disrepair, not unlike some of the students within its crumbling walls. When Hermione decides to return for an eighth year of studies, she finds herself setting out on a restorative journey that might just fix more than a few broken windows.
The one where Hermione and Draco rebuild the castle, themselves, and each other.
Winner of Overall Favourite, Best Hermione Characterisation, Best Draco Characterisation, Best Supporting Cast, and Runner-Up for Best Intimate Moment in the Dramione+ 50K Classic competition 2021

11. Selfish Vows by heavenlydew

Summary:
The war should have ended years ago. It didn’t. Instead, Hermione is captured and thrown into Azkaban, where she makes a dangerous bargain with a Death Eater in the cell next door:

She will answer one question a day and never lie.

Of course, all is not as it seems, and Hermione remains compromised by that bargain even after she escapes her prison cell. Obsessed with proving both her sanity and loyalty to the Order, she joins “The Knife”—a shadow unit tasked with hunting down Voldemort’s favorite soldier . . . one with the damning ability to resurrect the dead.

But not until finding him does Hermione finally accept the answer she may have known all along.

The only person to capture her mind and heart fights on the opposite side of the war.

Draco Malfoy.

12. An Ever Fixed Mark by ninepiecesofcrait

Summary:
It was a comedy of errors how Hermione Granger ended up engaged to Draco Malfoy, really. A series of unfortunate events.

Malfoy looked at his bloodied hand and the ring on the cobblestone floor, and sighed. “Well, Granger.” Grey eyes finally raised to look at her. “Now look what you’ve done.”

[while working to break a curse in malfoy’s cellar, hermione accidentally touches an enchanted betrothal heirloom from the noble house of black. things rapidly fall apart from there.]

13. The Trials and Tribulations of Draco Malfoy’s Employment by ladyursa

Summary:
Draco Malfoy, for reasons that no one else fully understood, decided he required a job. A job that, in what he considered to be a horrifying state of affairs, left him partnered with a witch who was irritatingly attractive, frustratingly brilliant, unbearably interesting, and thoroughly Unimpressed by his existence.

Draco wished he could return to the time before he passed the curse-breaking exams with scores high enough to make him stuck with the swotty fuckable know-it-all, but now, with his unfortunate amount of competence and his unfortunate assignment, he finds himself sent out on alarmingly dangerous retrievals which are highly likely to result in his perfect face and perfect hair being marred.

Copious quantities of Arithmancy are engaged in, peacocks with fancy rich person names are tended to, and unreasonable amounts of unbearably expensive firewhisky are consumed.

14. The Auction by lovesbitca8

This fic was recently adapted into its own story (published July 2025), and let me tell you, it is INCREDIBLE! Rose in Chains is a solid five star read, and is the gold standard of fanfic adaptations. While The Auction is now no longer available to read as a fan fic, you can still get the story through audiobook format.

15. Manacled by Senlinyu

Unfortunately for Dramione fans, this fic has been removed from AO3 since its adaptation into Alchemised. However, this wouln’t be a true list of god-tier dramione if I didn’t include this masterpiece. It’s brutal, brilliant, and beautifully written. So while it’s not available on AO3, Alchemised is basically the same story, just set in a different world. If you want, you can still experience the emotional devastation that made this fic a masterpiece and read the adapted story.

🖤A Fic For The End Of The World

If you’ve made it this far down the list, you’re clearly one of us — a true Dramione die-hard. Which means you need to know about my fanfic, Bridging the Gap, now live on AO3.

Summary:
Eight years gone. A husband she doesn’t remember. A life she doesn’t recognize.

When Hermione wakes to find she’s Mrs. Draco Malfoy, she must rediscover who she was — and decide if she still wants to be her.
