Standalones have their merits.

Like a one night stand but with books.

Duologies are perfect for a weekend. Hit and quit it, and you’re left feeling satisfied.

Trilogies are those books you date for a short period of time but ultimately decide you weren’t meant to be and go your separate ways. Nice while it lasted.

And then there are the books you have a long-term, commited relationship with.

The ones where you’re introduced to their friends. Their parents. You visit their workplace. You get fully immersed in their world and even find a place for yourself there.

There is something ridiculously satisfying about picking up a fantasy romance series when you already know there are four, five, six, or even seven books waiting for you.

No waiting for the next release.

No finishing book one and then being… done.

Just…

BOOKS.

So if you’re looking for completed fantasy romance series with 4+ books that you can really get to know long-term, I’ve got you.

These are the series for readers who are ready to commit.

And if you’re thinking, Okay, Page, I like fantasy romance, but I’m not signing my life away to a seven-book series, I’ve got you too.

Check out my Fantasy Romance Standalones if you want one night stand, or my Fantasy Romance Duologies if two books in a weekend sounds more appealing, you absolute rake. 😈

And yes, I’ve also got a Fantasy Romance Trilogies list for the people who want to date a series for just a little while.

What You’ll Find in This List

These are fantasy romance series with four or more books, ranging from completed four-book quartets to massive seven-plus-book commitments.

You’ll find:

  • Epic, dark, and fairytale fantasy romance
  • Books witth fae, vampires, political intrigue and more
  • Forbidden love, fated mates, enemies to lovers and some reverse harem/why choose love stories

Basically, this list has a little bit of everything that spans at least 4 books and ends with a well-earned happily ever after.

πŸ‘‰ What Should You Read First?

Here’s the quick list for anyone who wants to dive head-first into a lasting relationship immediately:

  • Bewitched β†’ witches + memory loss + true enemies to lovers in just 4 books
  • Losing Wendy β†’ criminally underrated + Peter Pan retelling + enemies to lovers with fated matesΒ
  • Shatter Me β†’ dystopian + X-men vibes + six books of emotional destruction

And if you’re already thinking, Nope. I just need something fun and addictive, check out my Fantasy Romance Books That are Just Plain Fun instead.

πŸ“š 4-Book Fantasy Romance Series

Four books is honestly a pretty great commitment level. Long enough to give you a proper epic story. Short enough that you can still see the bottom of your TBR.

Bewitched β€” Laura Thalassa

If you like your fantasy romance with witches, demons, magic, and a whole lot of complicated supernatural nonsense, Bewitched is a fun place to start.

Best for readers who want: witches + memory loss + supernatural romance + magic bonds

And if you love the fated mates trope, here’s a list of some of the best fantasy romance books with fated mates

Queen of Roses β€” Briar Boleyn

Dark fae fantasy, dangerous courts, magic, secrets, and a heroine who gets pulled into a world where absolutely nobody seems trustworthy.

Best for readers who want: dark fae + court intrigue + forbidden romance + magic

An Ember in the Ashes β€” Sabaa Tahir

This is the epic fantasy pick on the four-book side of the list. Ancient empires. War. Prophecy. Political intrigue. Forbidden love. Found family.

And action. So. Much. Action.

Best for readers who want: epic fantasy + political intrigue + forbidden love + found family

Rain of Shadows and Endings β€” Melissa K. Roehrich

If you like your fantasy romance dark, obsessive, and emotionally dangerous, put this one near the top of the list.

Best for readers who want: dark romantasy + obsessive romance + morally grey characters + emotional damage + spicy fantasy

Court of Ravens and Ruin β€” Eliza Raine

Court of Ravens and Ruin is a good pick for readers who want something firmly in the romantasy camp but don’t necessarily want to commit to a nine-book saga.

Best for readers who want: dark fae + court intrigue + enemies-to-lovers vibes

The Lost and the Chosen β€” Ivy Asher

A badass FMC with unique powers and a hilarious POV make this a great paranormal fantasy romance to enjoy in 4 completed books.

Best for readers who want: vampires + shifters + reverse harem

Rhapsodic β€” Laura Thalassa

Although the story does lean into some familiar romantasy territory, Rhapsodic has a very Laura Thalassa flavor to it. Urban-fantasy-meets-fae-realms setup and a romance that takes its time getting where it needs to go makes this one worth adding to your tbr.

Best for readers who want: fae + forbidden romance + slow burn

πŸ–€ 5-Book Fantasy Romance Series

Okay. Now we’re committing.

Five books is where I start looking at a series and thinking, β€œWell, I guess we’re living here now.”

Lady of Darkness β€” Melissa K. Roehrich

If you like your fantasy romance big, dark, complicated, and spicy, Lady of Darkness is exactly the kind of series you can disappear into.

Just a warning from my own reading experience: I DNF’d book two, so this is one where I’d recommend checking the vibe before committing to the full series. It’s not that it was bad, it just wasn’t for me. But plenty of people adore this series.

Best for readers who want: dark fantasy + morally grey characters + badass FMC

Empire of Flame and Thorns β€” Marion Blackwood

This one is for the readers who want romance AND fantasy in equal measure.

Empire of Flame and Thorns kicks off a five-book fantasy romance series with dual POV, a fully immersive fantasy world, and plenty of room for the story to grow.

Best for readers who want: fae + deadly trials + political stakes

Losing Wendy β€” T.A. Lawrence

Losing Wendy takes the familiar Neverland story and turns it into a longer, darker romantic fantasy series with a whole lot more room to explore what happens beyond the original story. The romance arc wraps in four books, and the fifth book serves as a spin-off.

Best for readers who want: Peter Pan retelling + no spice + fairytale vibes + dark fantasy romance

Do you tend to fall for the villain? (Same) Here’s a list of fantasy books where the villain gets the girl

House of Beating Wings β€” Olivia Wildenstein

If fae, dark magic, dangerous worlds, and complicated romance are your thing, this five-book series deserves a spot on your tbr list.

Best for readers who want: shifters + magic + political intrigue + spicy romantasy

πŸ”₯ 6-Book Fantasy Romance Series

Six books. Might as well put a ring on it if you get my meaning.

Shatter Me β€” Tahereh Mafi

If you haven’t met Warner yet, I genuinely don’t know what you’re doing here.

The main Shatter Me series is six books, although there are additional novellas and companion material if you decide you want to go all the way down the rabbit hole.

Best for readers who want: dystopian fantasy + dangerous MMC + espionage + banter + slow-burn romance

Gild β€” Raven Kennedy

This is the series for readers who want their fantasy romance dark, brutal, and increasingly impossible to put down.

Gild starts with a heroine trapped in a gilded cage, and the story gets significantly bigger from there.

πŸ‘‘ 7+ Book Fantasy Romance Series

At this point, you are no longer reading a series. You have moved in.

Bonded by Thorns β€” Elizabeth Helen

Bonded by Thorns is the first book in the seven-book Beasts of the Briar series, and it is absolutely built for readers who want a long romantasy binge.

The first book earned five stars from me, although I did find some of the dialogue a little stilted. However, it only gets better and better as the full, epic story progresses.

One important note: the final book is scheduled to complete the series in October 2026, so if you’re reading this before then, technically you’re waiting on the finale. Once it releases, this becomes a fully completed seven-book masterpiece.

Best for readers who want: Beauty and the Beast retelling + reverse harem + fae + shapeshifters

πŸ‘‰ Get it here | Read my review

Broken Bonds β€” J. Bree

If you want why choose romance, soul bonds, dangerous abilities, and a whole lot of emotional chaos, welcome to The Bonds That Tie.

Similar to Beasts of the Briar series, this seven-book series gives you a long-form reverse-harem fantasy romance with plenty of room for the bonds, relationships, and larger conflict to develop. Tbh, I found the last two books a bit repetitive, but the story overall was fun and addictive enough to recommend.

Best for readers who want: reverse harem + fated mates + emotional damage

Here’s a list of fantasy romance books that are emotionally devastating (in the best way)

Eternal Reign β€” Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

This seven-book series gives you a full vampire fantasy romance adventure with dual POV, supernatural politics, dangerous characters, and plenty of spicy romance.

I still haven’t finished the full series, so if you’re looking for something you can settle into for a while, this is exactly the kind of series that fits the bill.

Best for readers who want: vampires + supernatural romance + dangerous MMCs

🌟Bonus: Zodiac Academy β€” Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Zodiac Academy is a completed nine-book main series, which makes it the biggest commitment on this list. It is THE mother of all fantasy romance series.

The magical academy setting is addictive, the relationship drama is intense, and the series just keeps escalating with each and every book. If you’re looking for a fantasy romance series you can absolutely disappear into for a while, this is the one.

Best for readers who want: magical academy + fae + bully romance + EPIC commitment
