Ohhh, to dive back into this world Mafi has built—it feels like coming home to chaos, beauty, and emotional destruction all at once. I didn’t even do a re-read, but I didn’t need to; these books live rent-free in my head.
Her writing? Lyrical, poetic, and laced with sly humor that sneaks up on you. That combination makes every page feel alive. This is more than a book, it’s a magical, otherworldly experience, and I’m absolutely feral for it.
The yearning?? THE YEARNING. Cyrus, King of Tulan, is out here wrecking hearts, stealing crowns, and taking numbers!!! The slow burn is excruciating in the best way possible. Move aside, Aron Warner—Cyrus is here, and he’s claiming the romantasy throne.
And the plot? The way the clues stack up, twist around, and absolutely wreck you? Criminal. The tangled ties, the emotional damage, the jaw-dropping reveals…this is storytelling at its absolute peak. But that ending though? THAT ENDING. I’m not okay. I am so not okay. Someone check on me because I don’t know how I’m supposed to survive waiting for the next book.
