⭐️⭐️⭐️ | It’s Okay. Still Recommend.
Read The Wolf King if you like an innocent FMC with a hidden, fiery backbone and a dominant alpha MMC who’s secretly a soft marshmallow under all that growling.

💭 My Thoughts (Spoilers Below)
Let’s address the elephant in the Highlands.
This was originally a three-star read for me. And rereading my old notes? I’m honestly surprised at myself. I skimmed. Doubted. I questioned.
And yet.
There is exactly one reason this book deserved a re-read:
Blake.
There’s a reason this man sits comfortably on the Book Boyfriend Leaderboard. Red flags? Sure. But he’s an onion. You peel back the layers and suddenly you’re emotionally compromised.
Is the writing choppy at times? Yes.
Does the prose occasionally feel rough? Also yes.
But underneath that? The story is actually stronger than the writing style suggests. The romance is hot. The emotional beats land. And the ending absolutely sets up book two in a way that makes you want to immediately continue.
This is one of those series that gets better as it goes.
And let this be your reminder: re-reads hit different. When you already know the big twists and the overall plotline, you catch all the small details you missed the first time — especially if you maybe skimmed (no judgment, I did too). On this reread? No skimming. I savored every Blake scene.
Now. I will say this:
I fully understand the Callum shippers. This is a legitimate love triangle. Both options are valid. Callum is sweet. Loyal. A total simp in the best way. The first time around I genuinely waffled on endgame. (And this is what makes this review spoilery.) The best way to go into this story is not knowing there’s a potential second love interest. Especially when that love interest is the so-called villain. Sorry if you’ve foiled the surprise. I did warn this was a spoiler-ish review.
But you already know where I stand.
Team Blake. Forever.
