💭 My Thoughts:

I was in the mood for a vampire book (and honestly, how many times have I started a review like that? 😂).

But here’s the thing — a lot of books say vampires… and then barely deliver on the actual vampire part.

This one?

Oh no.

This one said vampires and meant it.

Blood. Danger. Bitey chaos. Exactly what I was craving.

And while our FMC is human, she has this incredibly cool gift — a voice in her head that has its own personality.

A male voice, by the way.

Which immediately had my attention.

It gave major One Dark Window vibes with that eerie “something else is living in your mind” dynamic, and I was hooked from the start.

Now let’s talk romance…

Or the lack of clarity around it at first.

About 25% in and I’m sitting there like: “Okay but WHO is the MMC??”

You know me — I’m always tracking the romance plot line like it’s my full-time job.

The MMC doesn’t even really show up until around 30%, and even then?

I was still questioning everything.

Is he the one?
Is this a slow burn?
Am I being misled??

And just when I thought I had it figured out…

The rug was ripped out from under me.

Multiple times.

But listen.

We might have a new contender for the Book Boyfriend Leaderboard.

I’m not committing yet — I need more from him in future books — but the potential?

Oh, it’s there.

If I had one critique, it’s that I didn’t feel like I got enough time with the MMC in this book. I wanted more depth, more moments, more reasons to fully obsess.

That said… it makes sense by the end.

But still.

I wanted MORE.

Now let’s talk about what this book absolutely nails:

The plot.

When I say the twists in this book are insane…

I mean I had my jaw on the floor multiple times.

Like full pause-reading-to-process levels of shock.

And the ending???

ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

There is so much happening, so much to unpack, and I already know this is a book I’ll be rereading because there’s no way I caught everything the first time through.

I’ve read a lot of fantasy.
I’ve read a lot of vampire fantasy.

But this one?

This one stands out.

Like… why is no one screaming about this yet??

Because they should be.

Loudly.
