💭 My Thoughts:

I’m fully in my vampire era right now and this one?

Hooked me by chapter five. The short chapters at the beginning make it so easy to fly through, and the pacing pulls you in fast.

And let’s address the elephant in the room:

White blond MMC.

Giving strong Draco Malfoy energy. Which I, personally, will never complain about.

But what really stood out to me early on was the worldbuilding.

This is one of those stories that unfolds the world slowly, instead of dumping all the lore on you upfront. And I love that. You’re constantly piecing things together — especially when it comes to the FMC, her past, and how she fits into the bigger picture.

You get answers…

…but not all of them.

Which keeps the mystery alive in the best way.

Now, let’s talk characters.

The FMC starts off strong. She feels self-aware, capable, and like she’s stepping into her power.

And then…

We hit the back half of the book.

And some of her decisions?

Infuriating.

We’re talking classic “I’m going to keep this massive secret instead of having a simple conversation” energy — and the reasoning just didn’t always hold up for me.

And it’s not just her. Multiple characters are holding onto secrets, even after trust has supposedly been built, and by the end it starts to feel a little repetitive.

Like… we’re still doing this??

BUT.

Let’s talk about the real reason you’re here:

Raphael.

Sir.

This man — this vampire king — is a problem.

A walking red flag? Yes.
Morally questionable? Absolutely.
Murder and thievery? Not even a concern.

And yet…

When it comes to her?

He is soft. Devoted. Protective. He wants her to be happy simply because she’s never really had happiness before. 🫠

THE VAMPIRE KING serves her.
He cooks for her (badly, but still).
He empowers her.

Babes.

This is elite book boyfriend behavior.

Honestly?

He might be too good for her.

Which… yeah. Tells you everything you need to know about how I felt about the FMC by the end. 😅

Is the plot predictable at times? Yes.

Will you probably see some twists coming? Also yes.

But here’s the thing: Raphael makes it worth it. I will be updating the official Book Boyfriend Leaderboard for this man, make no mistake.
