Book Review: A Forsaken Prophecy by Stacey McEwan

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Loved it! A must-own book.

Read A Forsaken Prophecy if you like rebellion stories, messy redemption arcs, multi-POV chaos, and tension so sharp it practically cuts you.

  • ✊ Rebellion
  • On-page intimacy 🔴
  • Redemption stories  (yes multiple. Everyone is sorry, but do we forgive them? Idk)

  • 🌈 Inclusive
  • Hate to love kinda (it’s complicated)
  •  🤫 Secrets and betrayals

✨ Vibes:

🔥 Mockingjay rebellion energy
⚔️ War-torn world + high emotional stakes

But honestly? This book is doing its own thing.

💭 My Thoughts:

Oh Patrick…

MY MAN.

The hurt in this book?

HURTS.

And yet — he’s still out here securing his spot on the Book Boyfriend Leaderboard.

Because tell me why this man is out here saving her multiple times in the first few chapters… while still being completely justified in being mad at her??

Sir. Pick a struggle.

But also… don’t. Because I love it.

Now let’s talk about the tension.

Because WOW.

This is very much a “hate to love… but it’s complicated” situation, and Patrick spends a lot of time denying both himself and her what we all know is coming.

And yes — it’s frustrating.

But it’s also delicious.

The tension is sharp, constant, and absolutely addictive.

Now add in the fact that this book gives us multiple POVs?

And not just multiple POVs — but different tenses depending on the character.

At first, you’re like… wait, what?

But honestly?

You settle into it quickly, and it works. It keeps the story feeling dynamic and gives each character their own distinct lens.

And that’s something this author does really well:

Character voice.

Every POV feels different. Every character sounds like themselves. And that alone makes the reading experience so much richer.

Now — I do have one critique.

The pacing.

There were definitely moments where things dragged a bit. Some descriptions felt overly long, and a few explanations could’ve been tightened up.

Not every scene needed that much detail, especially when you’re already locked into the story and just want to keep moving.

That said…

It didn’t take away from how much I loved this book.

Because the writing itself?

Still incredible.

And the story?

So unique.

This is one of those series where you can’t easily slap a bunch of tropes on it and call it a day. It has familiar elements, sure — but everything is done in a way that feels fresh and different.

Which makes it so fun to read.

And as a continuation of the series?

It absolutely holds up.

📚Read Alikes:

If you love rebellion plots + emotional tension + complex characters, try:

• Mockingjay — rebellion, war, and emotional fallout.
• An Ember in the Ashes — brutal world, shifting loyalties, and layered characters.
• Red Rising — uprising, strategy, and high-stakes tension.

Should you add A Forsaken Prophecy to your TBR?

Absolutely.

Continue this series.

Especially if you’re craving something that feels fresh, emotional, and a little bit different from everything else out there.

This book releases 7.21.26 Thanks so much to Sagapress Books and Netgalley for an advanced reader copy of this book. Keeping it real with my honest thoughts as always.
