⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Really liked it! Highly recommend.
A witchy, autumn-perfect murder mystery with a powerful sorcerer who’d raze the world for love? Bespelled by Laura Thalassa is your next binge read.
Summary:
No one told witch Selene Bowers having a soul mate would be so difficult. Nor did they warn her that he might be a vengeful, ancient sorcerer who would frame her for murder, force her to remember a past life he swears she lived, and then coerce her into an unbreakable marriage pact. But that’s exactly what happens the night of the Samhain Ball, when Selene finds herself in a jail cell.
After waking from enchanted sleep, Memnon swore to discover why Selene betrayed him long ago. But when his soul mate’s memories return, the truth reveals something else entirely. Horrified by his own actions and desperate to make amends, Memnon offers Selene the unthinkable: a magic bond that will give her full control over his will. And Selene is desperate enough to accept it.
But other enemies still haunt Henbane Coven, Selene’s magical academy, and they’ve taken a keen interest in her. If she wants to stop them, she’ll need Memnon’s help. But partnering with the sorcerer is a tricky business, especially when he’s dead set on winning her heart. And that can’t happen…because the bond controlling him will break the moment she falls in love with him.

💭 My Thoughts:
I love that Bespelled opens with a recap of Bewitched because honestly, it’s been a year and my brain needed that refresher. I forgot how good the fall vibes are in this series! Between the magic school, witches, mystery, and pumpkins, it’s basically a cozy autumn dream… with murder.
I had so much fun diving back in, and finally getting answers from all the lingering questions in book one felt so satisfying. Those revelations set up this plot perfectly, and I couldn’t put it down.
Memnon? THE MAN. Everything about him in this book perfection. Selene drove me a little nuts with her decisions sometimes (they felt pointless except to drive the plot), but it gave Memnon the perfect chance to prove how devoted he is. I genuinely thought this was a duology, so discovering there’s a third book coming? Pure serotonin!
Oh, and that ending? I actually laughed out loud. Memnon, you sneaky sorcerer, you. IYKYK. 😉 Now I’m itching to read the prequel for Roxilana and Memnon’s ancient love story in The Curse the Binds but let’s be honest, my mood reader heart will decide when that happens.
All in all, Bespelled is an enchanting, fast-paced, fall-perfect sequel that delivers all the cozy, witchy magic I wanted and then some.
Should you add Bespelled to your TBR?
As a sequel to Bewitched, how could you not pick this up? Especially when the vibes are this good.
