Book Review: Conform by Ariel Sullivan

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Loved it! A must-own book.

Read Conform if you like dystopian societies that look perfect on the surface but are rotting underneath, twisty political intrigue, and stories that keep you questioning literally everyone.

Book Boyfriend Meter: 🧡

Would consider. Would absolutely regret something.

✨ Vibes:

Imagine if you blended:

⚔️ Red Rising color-coded power structures
🕊️ The Handmaid’s Tale oppressive control
💄 Uglies glossy, beautiful dystopia hiding their ugly side

The result? A world that looks perfect… but feels dangerously wrong.

💭 My Thoughts:

This book reads like a thriller disguised as dystopian fantasy, and I mean that in the best way.

From the very beginning, you’re dropped into this world of elite “perfect” lives — the Illum — where everything looks polished and beautiful. But there’s this constant undercurrent of unease humming beneath the surface.

And the genius of the story?

You’re just as clueless as the FMC.

You know something is wrong. You can feel the danger closing in around her. But the author only reveals pieces of the puzzle slowly, so you’re left desperate for answers right alongside her.

I was completely locked in.

Now let’s talk about the love triangle.

Normally with love triangles, I immediately pick a side. It’s instinct. But this one? Nope.

Instead, I found myself suspicious.

Not rooting. Not choosing.

Just side-eyeing everyone and trying to figure out who I could actually trust.

It made the entire story feel twistier and more unpredictable than your typical dystopian romance. I genuinely did not know how this was going to unfold, and I kept changing my mind all the way to the end.

And speaking of the end…

THE END???!!!!

I don’t even have words.

Just theories.

Wild ones.

All I know is I need Book 2 immediately. But thankfully there’s a prequel coming soon, because this world? I am not ready to leave it.

I’ve been hoping dystopian fantasy would make a comeback, and while a few recent releases haven’t fully delivered for me…

This one absolutely did.

📚Read Alikes:

If you loved the twisty dystopian politics and layered mystery, try:

• Red Rising — brutal power hierarchies, rebellion, and high-stakes survival.
• The Handmaid’s Tale — a chilling society built on control and manipulation.
• Uglies — a glossy “perfect” society hiding something much darker.

Should you add Conform to your TBR?

Yes. Absolutely.

If you love mysterious dystopian worlds, political intrigue, and stories where nothing is what it seems, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.

Especially if you enjoy books that leave you spiraling with theories at 2am.
