⭐️⭐️ | Meh, Won’t Recommend.

Or, I read it so you don’t have to.

📖 What’s Inside:

  • Miscommunication (lots of it)
  • Witches & blood magic 🪄
  • Dual POV
  • Enemies to lovers
  • Forced proximity
  • Only one bed
  • On-page intimacy 🔴
  • Explicit language
  • 🌈 Inclusive cast
  • Overloaded tropes

✨ Vibes:

It’s giving Bridgerton meets Titanic (in part 1)… but not in a good way.

💭 My Thoughts:

Tell me how book 1 in a duology can be a banger, and then book 2 can completely miss the mark. Here’s how: annoy the reader with repetition and miscommunication, throw in too many convenient plot devices, and then overdose on tropes.

I felt deceived. Heartless Hunter set me up with great expectations, and even the beginning of Rebel Witch felt promising. But the sudden prince romance was jarring, the tension was built entirely on frustrating miscommunication, and the “enemies to lovers” was just lust padded with smutty scenes at the worst possible times. Plot twists were predictable, convenient, and disappointing.

I know this one won’t be a popular opinion, and I don’t love handing out bad reviews. But here’s the deal: no guesswork, no fluff, just straight-up honesty. I always appreciate when a negative review validates my own thoughts, so I’m giving you that same honesty here. You can’t have the five-star gems without calling out the flops, and for me, this one just didn’t make the cut. So…

➕ Should you add this to your TBR?

No. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Instead, read Heartless Hunter and, when you hit the end, just imagine your own satisfying conclusion. Anything you come up with would be better than this.

🧙‍♀️ What to Read Instead

If you’re craving a witchy fantasy that actually delivers, skip Rebel Witch and check out my Ultimate Fall Fantasy List. You’ll find plenty of atmospheric magic there, including some standout witch books like Bewitched by Laura Thalassa and A Throne of Shadows by Tessonja Odette. Those are the kinds of spellbinding stories that deserve a spot on your TBR.

📌 If you appreciate honest reviews, save this pin to your bookish board and help spare a fellow reader from picking this one up.
