⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | A must-own fantasy romance
Looking for your next binge-worthy fantasy? When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker is a lush, bloody, dragon-filled ride with a stabby heroine and a romance that absolutely wrecked me.
Summary:
As a valued Elding Blade of the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve’s job is to kill. To complete orders and never get caught. When a renowned bounty hunter is employed by The Crown to capture a member of the Ath, Raeve’s world is turned upside down. Blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself at the mercy of the Guild of Nobles—a group of dual-beaded elementals who intend to turn her into a political statement. Only death will set her free.
Crushed beneath a mourning weight, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to assuage the never-ebbing ache in his chest, his hunt for a moonshard lures him into the belly of Gore’s notorious prison where he stumbles upon something that rips apart his perception of reality. A shackled miracle with eyes full of rage and blood on her hands.
The echo of the past sings louder than the Creators themselves, and even Raeve can’t ignore the truths blaring at her from a warmer, happier time.
However.
There’s more to this song than meets the eye, and some truths … They’re too poisonous to swallow.
Read this if you like:
- Complex world-building that actually pays off
- Broken but resilient heroines
- Stabby main characters with bite
- Romance that hurts in the best way
- Plots that keep you guessing til the end
📖 What’s Inside:
- “Who did this?” energy from page one
- Dragons (yes, plural!)
- Plenty of blood and gore
- Multiple POVs
- Explicit language
- On-page intimacy 🔴
- Imperfect, messy characters
- Complicated family dynamics
✨ Vibes:
Raya and the Last Dragon… but bloodier, darker, and much more adult.
💭 My Thoughts:
I’ll be honest—this one takes a while to get going. The first 25% is heavy on world-building, and the flowery prose, while gorgeous, dragged things down a bit. Could it have been tighter? Absolutely.
But here’s the thing: once it takes off, it does. not. stop. The plot is addictive, the twists are brutal, and the romance? Stab-me-in-the-heart, five-star-level good. Even with the slow start and purple prose, I couldn’t put it down. That’s why this one still lands at a full ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me.
If you love sprawling fantasy worlds, messy heroines, and a romance that makes you feel, grab this book immediately. It’s worth every page.
