Every year I tell myself I’m going to be responsible.

And every year fantasy romance publishers laugh directly in my face.
Because somehow they keep releasing dragons, morally grey men, deadly trials, magical kingdoms, and sequels to books that already emotionally destroyed me.
So naturally… my TBR has absolutely no chance.
If you’re wondering which upcoming fantasy romance books deserve a spot on your radar, these are the releases I’m counting down the days for. I’ll also be updating this list throughout the year with reviews and new releases, so be sure to bookmark it and check back with the latest bookish news.

Spring 2026 Releases
Dawn of the North (book 3) — Demi Winters Out Now
📚 Still on my TBR
The Norse-inspired world expands once again as Demi Winters continues one of the most immersive fantasy series currently being published. Expect brutal survival, political tension, and plenty of emotional damage.
Best for readers who want: Viking fantasy + survival stories + epic adventure

Frozen by Stardust (book 5) — Elizabeth Helen Out Now

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Frozen by Stardust, and I absolutely loved it. Then I somehow got an ARC for book six too (Stolen by Shadows), which only made me even more invested in this series. At this point, the seventh and final Beasts of the Briar book has officially become my most anticipated fantasy romance release. If you’re planning to read this series, I’d honestly recommend waiting until the finale is out so you can binge the whole thing. Crowned by Roses releases in October!

The Ballad of Falling Dragons (book 2) — Sarah A. Parker Out Now
⏳Started, haven’t finished
I started this one but haven’t finished it yet. I think too much time passed between books for me, and I’ve lost some of the emotional momentum from book one. Rather than force it, I’m saving it for when I’m in the right mood—or, better yet, when I can binge the whole trilogy. This is definitely a “not right now,” not a DNF.
Best for readers who want: emotional romance + dragons + lyrical writing

Rites of the Starling (book 2) — Devney Perry Out Now
❌ DNF
After loving Shield of Sparrows, I couldn’t wait for this sequel. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work for me, and I ended up DNFing it. If you loved book one, I still think it’s worth checking out to see if it lands for you. I think it was the pacing for me… I just got bored. But don’t let me stop you from giving this one a shot!
Best for readers who want: emotional romance + fantasy kingdoms + unforgettable characters

Broken Dove (book 2) — Dani Francis Out Now
❌ DNF
I was genuinely excited for this release, but it ended up being a DNF for me. That said, plenty of readers are still enjoying it, so don’t let my experience stop you if the premise sounds like your kind of book. If you’re curious what didn’t work for me, I’ll just say that I wasn’t a fan of how the romance was handled.
Best for readers who want: dystopian vibes + a love triangle + mind magic

Fury Bound (book 2) — Sable Sorensen Out Now
⏳Started, haven’t finished
I have to be honest here. I had this book pre-ordered and immediately started reading on release day. About 20% in, I just… lost interest. I blamed by mood. It started out great! So I put it down for a bit and tried again later. Genuinely was enjoying myself… until I wasn’t. At this point (I’m half-way through), I don’t know if it’s me or the book. So this is another one in my ‘not right now’ pile. I’m not ready to DNF yet, so stay tuned!

A Forsaken Prophecy (book 2) — Stacey McEwan Out Now

One of the year’s most anticipated enemies-to-lovers sequels. If the first book’s banter and chemistry won you over, expect even more delicious tension as the story continues. I actually loved this one better than the first!

Fall & Winter 2026 Releases
The Knave and the Moon — Rachel Gillig (September 2026)
Rachel Gillig has officially earned my auto-buy status. If book one was any indication, this sequel is about to deliver haunting atmosphere, unforgettable romance, and emotional damage in equal measure.

The Woven Kingdom (Book 5) — Tahereh Mafi (September 2026??)
Every installment feels like poetry wrapped in pain.
I don’t know what’s coming—but I know I’ll be highlighting entire pages and crying about it.
Best for readers who want: political fantasy + enemies to lovers + unique magic system
I read some where that the final book in this series was releasing in September… but now I’m not so sure. With her Shatter Me 2 series also releasing, I’m afraid this book has been pushed back. Pray to the bookish gods that we will get the finale to this series this year!

The Wolf Queen (book 3) — Lauren Palphreyman Pushed back to 2027
The chokehold this series has on me should be illegal.
Bring on the wolves, the power struggles, and the romance that bites back. There’s no official release date as of writing this post, but the author has confirmed it will be coming some time in summer so I’ll be clearing the entire season for this one.
Best for readers who want: wolf shifters + morally grey characters + an epic love triangle

The Evermore Trilogy (Book 2) — Julie Soto (December 2026)
Julie Soto continues her dark fantasy romance with more political intrigue, impossible choices, and simmering tension. If book one hooked you with its twists and emotional stakes, this sequel is worth the wait.
